After advocating for regional childcare since beginning in the role, The Nationals’ Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, has brought rain to the childcare desert of Red Cliffs.
Minister for Children, Hon. Lizzie Blandthorn today announced that six new State Government owned and operated childcare centre locations, due to open in 2027 with one being the Red Cliffs centre Ms Benham has been advocating for.
“It’s such a relief and will be simply life changing for young families in Red Cliffs,” said Ms. Benham.
“The Mitchell report identified our entire region as a childcare desert paying particular attention to Red Cliffs.”
“Currently, Red Cliffs families have to travel to Mildura for long daycare and early childhood learning centres adding substantial time & expense to their daily routine.”
“Regional childcare is absolutely critical, not only for families, but the value to the community when it is accessible.”
